After recently securing 367 million Swedish krona in capital from Resurs Bank and acquiring Vipps MobilePay Checkout for up to 490 million Norwegian krona, Kustom is taking the next step in its expansion.
The company announced today that David Sucasas Wictorén will assume the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). In his new role, he will have overall operational responsibility for scaling Kustom's infrastructure and delivery model in the European market.
Wictorén most recently held the position of Vice President and Head of Acceptance & Partners for Northern Europe at Mastercard, where he worked for nearly ten years on large-scale implementations and launches of payment technology in the Nordics, Baltics and the Netherlands.
We are building an operational organization that matches our growth rate. David has experience in scaling payment infrastructure in the very type of markets we are growing in, and a clear understanding of the merchants we serve, says Kamjar Hajabdolahi, CEO of Kustom.
Wictorén notes that the European markets are fragmented, a complexity he believes Kustom's platform is built to handle. He also points out that the step from a global large company to Kustom was appealing.
I have almost exclusively worked for American and German large companies throughout my career, so it will be incredibly exciting to now build from within a Swedish-founded company with the position and ambitions that Kustom has, says David Sucasas Wictorén.
The new Chief Operating Officer also emphasizes his understanding of the everyday life of connected e-merchants, with a background in a family where several generations have run their own businesses.
I come from a family of entrepreneurs. My wife runs e-commerce, my mother runs a café and my grandparents were entrepreneurs. I have seen the challenges of merchants up close all my life and know what it takes to make a business work. My task at Kustom is to deliver a stable and scalable solution that actually makes it easier to run and grow your business, says David Sucasas Wictorén.
Kustom, previously operating under the name Klarna Checkout, was established as an independent company in the autumn of 2024. Through the recently announced acquisition of Vipps MobilePay's checkout solution, the company is expanding its existing customer base by over 3,000 merchants and increasing its transaction volume by more than 7 billion Norwegian krona.
