Several well-known faces from the Swedish e-commerce industry were recognized when the twenty-fifth edition of the Founders Awards Gala was held at Berns in Stockholm on September 24th. The award, which is presented in the categories of small, medium and large companies, is based on the companies' historical performance, future potential and social benefit.

Among the e-commerce companies, Malin Glemme, founder of the interior design company Layered, stood out and was awarded gold in the category for small businesses. The criterion for the category is that the company must be profitable and have a turnover equivalent to 2 to 10 million euros.

Gold winner praised for design and growth

Layered was founded in 2015 and sells handmade interior details and rugs with the ambition to reach a global market.

It is an incredible honor to receive this award. Above all, I am proud of the journey we have made together and of the team that drives Layered forward every day, says Malin Glemme in a comment on the award.

The jury, consisting of several industry colleagues, highlighted her ability to combine profitability with a clear vision. According to the jury's justification, she proves that operational efficiency and design go hand in hand by transforming an everyday item into art, while both revenue and profitability are scaled up.

Silver medalists in the medium-sized segment

In the category for medium-sized companies, where the requirement is a turnover of between 10 and 50 million euros, several Swedish e-commerce founders were awarded silver.

Victor Halvarsson, who founded the jewelry company Vanbruun in 2014, was praised for his work in selling engagement rings and diamond jewelry online. The company aims to establish itself as one of Europe's leading jewelry houses with associated physical showrooms.

In the same category, Freja and Niklas Najafi Kristensen, founders of the baby product company Najell, were also rewarded. The company, which started in 2012, sells self-manufactured products for parenthood and is in an international expansion phase. Mikael Bergström and Christoffer Granback, the founders behind Smartshake, also received a silver award for their global sales of fitness and liquid accessories.

Sustainable fashion awarded

In addition to gold medalist Layered, another e-commerce company was recognized in the category for small businesses. Linn Frisinger, founder of Swedish Stockings, was awarded a silver. The company was founded in 2013 and produces tights made from recycled material with a business model based on sustainable production.

The gala also presented awards to actors outside the e-commerce sector. Among other gold medalists during the evening were Christian von Koenigsegg from Koenigsegg Automotive and Pontus Frithiof from Pontus Group. In the large company segment, representatives from the tech and transport sectors were also awarded, including the founders of Consid and Centiro Group.
