In a location in central Malmö, selected furniture is displayed alongside organic textiles, work clothes and ceramics. The Småland heritage has taken root in the city through a combined store and café business based on recycled materials. Now the plan is to take the environments from AB Småland’s physical space and move them online, to reach consumers in several European countries.

The range of vintage furniture and interior design has, until now, had a clear physical presence. To change this geographical limitation, the company is scaling up its online sales through a platform switch to Shopify.

The technical build and visual design are being entrusted to the Malmö agency Intervaro. Simultaneously, the agency Diggity is stepping in to manage traffic acquisition and handle ongoing data regarding conversion and measurement.

The work of digitizing the store shelves and assortment has been characterized by a goal to transfer the atmosphere from the physical environment to a screen. For founder Bruno Bergenholtz, the transition is about building a digital space that reflects the original idea in a new interface.

Now we are taking the next digital step so that more people can enjoy what we do, regardless of where they are located. We want the digital experience to feel as well-thought-out and inspiring as visiting our physical store, says Bruno Bergenholtz, founder of AB Småland.

Aiming Internationally

And when the new e-commerce platform is rolled out, it won’t stop at Sweden's borders. The systems are set up to immediately handle orders to consumers in Denmark and Germany.

The entire business model now relies on the tactile materials from the store being able to be experienced and clicked home in a digital environment, regardless of whether the customer is located in Skåne or on the continent.
