The collaboration encompasses warehousing and distribution for the markets in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and the Netherlands. All logistics operations for this segment will henceforth be handled from DSV's facility in Landvetter outside Gothenburg, which has a total area of 48,000 square meters. According to the parties, the location was chosen based on its strategic position with proximity to central transport links, which should ensure efficient deliveries to all affected countries.
We are very pleased with the trust from Specsavers. With our experience in e-commerce logistics and a strategic location in Landvetter, we can offer a flexible and scalable solution that supports their continued growth, says Anders Holmberg, Commercial Director for warehouse operations at DSV.
Under the terms of the new agreement, DSV will be responsible for the entire operational logistics chain. This includes processes such as warehouse management, order picking, packaging and final distribution to the end consumer. The logistics solution is said to be based on modern systems to create transparency and high delivery accuracy.
We look forward to working with DSV. We share the same view on the importance of customer satisfaction, quality and efficient processes, and look forward to working together to create a logistics solution that gives our customers a smooth and reliable experience, says Richard Gautrey, Director of Warehousing, Distribution & Glazing at Specsavers.
Part of a Larger Digital Transformation
The establishment of the centralized North European distribution hub in Landvetter is a direct consequence of Specsavers' strategic shift towards a streamlined omnichannel model. The company, founded in 1984 in the United Kingdom and now a global player in vision and hearing solutions, has made significant investments in its digital infrastructure in recent years.
To manage a growing digital volume – with over 28 million annual online visitors distributed across eleven markets – Specsavers has previously replaced its older technical base with a new modern e-commerce platform.
Furthermore, Specsavers has integrated augmented reality (AR) technology on its websites. The tool, called Framestyler, allows consumers to virtually try on glasses frames in 3D through facial scanning and receive style recommendations before completing a digital purchase.
