The ongoing summer heat is reflected in Power's sales statistics. The chain notes a sharp increase in fans and air conditioning. According to the company's figures, sales of air conditioning have increased by 250 percent compared to the same week last year. During the past weekend, an increase of over 500 percent per day was measured.
I have never seen figures like these on a single weekend. Saturday and Sunday we were up over 500 percent compared to last year, and even today we are seeing significant growth. My advice is to secure cooling products before the heat really hits this weekend, says Sales Manager Arne Johan Hansen.
In terms of sales volume, it is table fans, hand fans and neck fans that are selling the most. However, portable air conditioning accounts for the largest percentage increase compared to last year. Ice and slush machines are also seeing a sales increase in line with rising temperatures.
We are selling as many ice and slush machines as climate products, and that says a lot about the weather, says Arne Johan Hansen.
Continued Expansion And New Department Stores
Parallel to the seasonal sales, Power announces that the chain is continuing its establishment strategy. The company recently signed an agreement for a new store area in Bromma Blocks in western Stockholm, with a planned opening in early 2028. This follows the upcoming department store in Arninge, which is scheduled to be completed in early 2027.
The stated goal is to open 30 new department stores in the next five years. As part of this growth, the company is also launching a new trainee program next year to recruit future department store managers.
Over 10 Million On Opening Day
Power recently opened its 30th department store in Sweden, located in Halmstad. As Ehandel.se previously reported, the store reached a turnover of one million Swedish krona already during the first hour. Power has now summarized the total opening day, which resulted in sales of over 10 million Swedish krona. Sales during the day were mainly driven by TV sets in connection with the European Football Championship, but also by robotic lawnmowers, mobile phones and computers.
