When the doors opened at 07.00, the queue stretched over 150 meters long outside the department store, and the first customers had been on site since Wednesday evening.
According to Power, turnover amounted to over one million Swedish kronor during the initial hour of the reopening. Among the products that drove sales were coffee makers, air fryers and televisions.
Ahead of the opening, the department store in Kristianstad underwent a renovation to adapt to current consumption patterns.
We have scaled up our largest segments such as Data, TV and the household department with extra focus on, among other things, robot vacuum cleaners to ensure relevance even for future trends, says Mattias Birkén, store manager at Power in Kristianstad.
Part Of A Larger Expansion Plan
The reopening in Kristianstad takes place as Power intensifies its establishment rate in the Swedish market. As Ehandel.se recently reported, the chain is also facing a major establishment in Arninge C north of Stockholm, an investment of around 13 million Swedish kronor.
In the coming years, the company plans to open another 10 to 15 new department stores in the country. Next in line are openings of new stores on Kungsgatan in Stockholm and in Halmstad, which are expected to open their doors within the next few months.
The company's CEO Magnus Kreuger, who was on site during Thursday morning in Kristianstad, commented on the interest in the reopening:
The response from customers today confirms that we are not just following the development but leading it, says Magnus Kreuger.
Complete sales figures for the opening day in Kristianstad are expected to be presented on Friday.
