E-commerce consumers often spread their potential purchases across dozens of tabs, saved links and screenshots. The Swedish retailtech company Onebasket wants to solve the problem with a universal platform and is now receiving its first external venture capital investment.

After previously receiving an innovation loan from Almi, startup company Onebasket announces that they have now secured their first external investment from a Swedish business angel. The capital will be used to scale up product development and improve the platform's functionality and user interface.

The focus is now on preparing the platform for launch and securing the first strategic partners. According to the company, there is already a clear interest from the industry.

We want the right partners with us from an early stage, and we are already in dialogue with several established Swedish e-commerce companies. It feels incredibly exciting, almost surreal, says Marie Bjerkevall Lundin, CEO and founder of Onebasket, in a statement.

A new way to capture purchase intentions

The service was born out of the founder's own experiences of how fragmented the online shopping experience can be.

I constantly found products I liked, but they always ended up scattered among tabs, apps, bookmarks and screenshots. I wanted a single place where ideas, products and purchase intentions could be gathered, says Marie Bjerkevall Lundin.

For e-commerce companies, the platform represents a potentially new channel for customer acquisition and insights. Instead of relying on traditional push marketing, Onebasket's model is based on capturing customers' actual intentions.

The goal is not to steal traffic from the stores, but to function as a bridge.

Onebasket is not intended to replace the e-commerce sites that customers already love, but to connect them. We want to give consumers a calmer and more thoughtful way to explore products and decide when it's the right time to buy. With this investment, we can build the technology needed to make that experience a reality, says Marie Bjerkevall Lundin.
