Eva-Lotta Sjöstedt has over 30 years of experience in leading positions within international companies. Her track record includes CEO positions at Georg Jensen, Karstadt and Ikea in the Netherlands. Today, she is, among other things, Chairman of the Board of Svenska Spel and a board member of Rusta, Finnish Elisa and German Metro. Now she has been given the task of leading Matsmart's board as the e-commerce retailer enters its next phase with a focus on growth and profitability in the Nordics.
Matsmart has built a position by combining sustainability, affordability and customer benefits. Now it's about continuing to build profitability in balance with growth. I look forward to working with the board, CEO Sofie Zettergren and the team to further develop Matsmart," says Eva-Lotta Sjöstedt.
The appointment is part of a series of structural changes in Matsmart's management and strategy recently. In July, Sofie Zettergren was appointed permanent CEO after a period as acting, and the company recently discontinued its German operations. As part of the restructuring, the e-commerce retailer raised over SEK 100 million from existing owners in May with the aim of securing the path to profitability.
"Sees a momentum"
According to Matsmart, the strategic shift has begun to yield results. During the first seven months of the year, the company reports revenue growth of 10 percent in the Nordics, combined with improved profitability and a stronger cash flow. The company's goal is for the Nordic region to show a profit on a full-year basis by 2028. Earlier this year, Matsmart announced that the group's losses in 2025 decreased to -SEK 193 million, while revenue increased to nearly SEK 1.2 billion.
We have created a stable foundation for Matsmart and see a momentum in the Nordics. Eva-Lotta's international experience in leading consumer-facing organizations through transformation will be an asset as we now take the next step to strengthen our market position," says Sofie Zettergren.
