The logistics facility in Eskilstuna, covering approximately 25,000 square meters, normally employs several hundred people with increased staffing during e-commerce peak seasons. The transfer of operational responsibility, according to the parties involved, has been carried out with a focus on business continuity and job security for employees. All current employees at the warehouse have been offered to transfer employment to PostNord TPL.
Previously, the warehouse was operated by the global logistics company Kuehne Nagel.
For PostNord TPL, the takeover means that the Eskilstuna facility is integrated into a highly automated logistics network aimed at international e-commerce companies.
PostNord TPL is building a Nordic fulfillment platform for leading global e-commerce players, where Eskilstuna will become a central node in the network. This is a very important step in our long-term strategy and our goal of delivering stability, quality and scalability in very complex logistics flows, says Andrew Kristensen, CEO of PostNord TPL.
Amazon also comments on the new operator and highlights the regional logistics anchoring as a central motive.
PostNord TPL has a deep Nordic logistics expertise, and by combining their strength in fulfillment with our focus on range, price and convenience, we are confident that this partnership will continue to deliver the experience that Swedish customers expect, says Gulfem Toygar, Country Manager for Amazon Sweden.
