The Danish interior design chain Jysk continues to expand its European logistics network. Just days after the announcement of increased capacity in Sweden and Italy, it is now clear that the company is taking over a 63,000 square meter warehouse in Danish Horsens to handle, among other things, e-commerce.

From the beginning of August this year, Jysk will gain access to a property just west of Horsens previously used by the transport company DSV. The premises, which are leased by the pension fund Sampension, will serve as a workplace for around 30 employees. The establishment means that Jysk can consolidate a number of smaller, local warehouses in the area into a joint and centralized unit.

The goal of the expanded space is to secure the company's logistics and handle increased volumes. From the new warehouse, staff will supply the 117 Danish stores with goods, but the facility will also handle direct deliveries to customers who shop via the company's e-commerce platform. In the long term, the warehouse may also relieve the business by delivering to other Northern European markets.

We already have a well-functioning distribution center in Uldum that delivers goods to our stores in Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, Great Britain and Ireland every day. But to be able to meet customer demand, we need even more space," says Henrik Madsen, Logistics Director at the distribution center in Uldum.

At the property owner Sampension, the agreement with the interior design chain is seen as a logical step in line with the strategy of investing in properties with stable tenants. Martin Rauhe Pedersen, Senior Portfolio Manager at Sampension, describes the leasing as an important step for the property and adds that they look forward to a value-creating collaboration with Jysk.

The Danish warehouse expansion is taking place in close connection to Jysk's other logistics investments. A few days ago, the company announced that it is expanding its warehouse area in Nässjö, Småland, by 24,000 square meters, primarily to handle Nordic e-commerce. At the same time, the company is establishing its first distribution center in Italy, where it has leased a temporary facility of 90,000 square meters while waiting for a permanent location to be completed. The combined international investments aim to increase overall capacity, shorten delivery times and ensure the supply of goods regardless of whether the purchase is made physically or digitally.
