Inter Ikea is continuing its work to change its organization, and the savings plan affects hundreds of jobs. According to DI, the next group of employees is now in line to be informed about their future after the first announcements were made in the spring.

The newspaper reports that large parts of the Swedish staff in Älmhult and Malmö are awaiting news on Tuesday. The change is part of the plan that the group management presented earlier this year.

In the spring, Inter Ikea’s CEO Jakub Jankowski presented a savings package that will eliminate 850 jobs globally, including 300 in Sweden. The company owns the Ikea brand and is responsible for the development and manufacturing of the entire product range. The purpose of the change is to simplify working methods within the organization.

Älmhult expected to take a large share of the cuts

The process is now entering a new phase. The company confirms that employees who did not receive notice before the summer will receive their information this week, and according to information obtained by Di, the new announcements will come as early as Tuesday.

Of the company’s 5,500 employees in Sweden, 4,500 work in Älmhult, and the town is expected to take a large share of the cuts, according to the newspaper. Management is working according to the schedule that the savings package should be fully implemented before the new year begins.

The final number of affected employees per country and location will be determined as the process progresses. The goal is still for the new organization to be in place on January 1st. Only then will we know exactly how many jobs and employees have been affected, says Mattias Hennius, press spokesperson at Inter Ikea, to Di.
