Pressured by decreased consumption.

Kappahl reports lower turnover and a reduced operating profit for 2025. Consumer restraint is cited as the reason for the downward trend in the company's latest annual report.

In 2025, Kappahl Sweden's turnover fell to SEK 3.5 billion. This represents an 8 percent decrease compared to the SEK 3.8 billion recorded the previous year. Sales to other companies within the group accounted for SEK 839 million of the year's turnover.

The operating profit for the Swedish business amounted to SEK 131 million. This figure shows a decline in the longer term, as operating profit stood at SEK 440 million in 2021. The profit margin has decreased over the same period, landing at 3.7 percent for 2025, compared to 12.4 percent four years earlier.

The year has been marked by continued concern due to the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine and geopolitical instability. The increasing uncertainty has meant that consumers have continued to exercise restraint in their consumption, and in addition, inflation and high interest rates have affected the general scope for consumption, writes Kappahl in its annual report.

Continued Investments and Group Figures

The company invested SEK 49 million in fixed assets during the year, primarily directed towards the existing network of stores. At the end of 2025, the chain had 157 stores.

A decrease is also visible for the parent company, Kappahl Group. Total turnover decreased by 0.3 percent to SEK 5.1 billion. The group's profit after financial items landed at SEK 365 million, a decrease of 13 percent from last year's SEK 420 million.
