The online store Zoofabriken, which has been selling pet food and accessories online since the summer of 2024, has been declared bankrupt, reports Market.

The business was run by two young entrepreneurs in their 20s who were early on highlighted as success stories in the marketing for a well-known e-commerce profile's courses, where it was stated that the store had a turnover of 1.5 million Swedish krona during its first eight weeks. The course activities have previously been reviewed by Breakit for encouraging the launch of online stores with minimal start-up capital.

Reported and Ended Up with the Swedish Enforcement Authority

Behind the early sales figures, the business soon became plagued by operational and financial problems. Customers raised the alarm about missing deliveries and non-refunds, resulting in hundreds of negative reviews and low customer ratings online.

The dissatisfaction also led to a number of reports to the Swedish Consumer Agency. At the same time, the company accumulated debts with the Swedish Enforcement Authority and failed to submit its annual reports on time.

In a comment to Breakit, one of the owners admits that growth became too fast in relation to resources:

It was probably a little too fast growth, and it was just the two of us.
