Last week, OpenAI opened its advertising platform to the Swedish market. Interest in the channel has quickly been noticed by agencies. Adrelevance, which manages advertising for Gymkompaniet and Partykungen, notes high pressure from e-commerce businesses wanting to get started quickly.
How the ads are controlled
Unlike traditional search engines, the AI service's advertising is not based on keywords or reports on specific search terms. Instead, the setup is governed by contextual clues, geographical settings, defined target groups and the choice of landing page. This requires a different technical setup compared to conventional keyword marketing.
ChatGPT Ads is a new channel with great potential, especially for e-commerce businesses that already have a strong presence in Google Ads, says Karl Lindberg, CEO of Adrelevance.
Integrated into the chat tool
Free users of the AI tool can now see how these campaigns appear in the interface.
Specifically, the products are placed directly adjacent to the chat's responses. For example, if a user discusses training goals and budget, a targeted ad for a treadmill from Gymkompaniet may appear based on the content of the conversation.
There has been hype around ChatGPT ads. We have been completely flooded with calls and emails regarding ChatGPT Ads, says Karl Lindberg.
