E-commerce company Sweden Buyersclub presented its figures for the third quarter of the year today. Net sales soared by 62 percent, reaching SEK 37.2 million, compared to SEK 22.9 million during the same period last year. This means that the company has already reached the same sales levels during the third quarter as it did during the entire intense Christmas shopping period last year.
At the same time as sales are booming, the company is managing to significantly strengthen its profitability. Operating profit at EBITDA level rose to SEK 1.8 million, up from a modest SEK 40,000 last year, resulting in an EBITDA margin of 5 percent. Operating profit according to EBIT also turned from a loss of SEK 1 million to a profit of SEK 0.48 million, meaning that the company is now delivering its second consecutive quarter with positive figures. The bottom line showed a profit after tax of SEK 0.27 million, a clear turnaround from last year's loss of SEK 1.2 million.
Despite inventory shifts and one-time costs, we are achieving our best result so far. This feels particularly good as much of our time has been spent preparing the next step, while the core business has continued to grow, says Emil Henriksson, CEO of Sweden Buyersclub, in the report.
Exceeds Dream Threshold for Members
A key part of the business model is the recurring membership revenue, which increased by 25 percent during the quarter to SEK 6.2 million, compared to SEK 5 million last year. At the end of the period, annual recurring revenue (ARR) amounted to SEK 23.2 million, representing a 16 percent year-on-year growth.
Shortly after the end of the third quarter, the company was also able to celebrate a major milestone when it exceeded the dream threshold of 30,000 paying monthly subscribers. According to the CEO, this is due to increased organic visibility combined with smarter systems that are now bearing fruit in the accounts.
Years of work with Buyersclub are starting to pay off, and I believe this is just the beginning. More customers are finding us organically, and an increasing proportion of our flows are automated. This frees up time in daily operations to develop new revenue streams, says Emil Henriksson.
Investing in AI Platform and Huge Warehouse
During the autumn, the pace has been further increased outside of the core business. Already on October 1st, the doors opened to the new bookstore at storytelbooks.com, a collaboration where Buyersclub manages the entire operational e-commerce operation, logistics and customer service for the audiobook giant Storytel. Two weeks later, the company also launched its own price comparison and shopping tool, Dubbelkolla.
As recently as Friday, it was also announced that the company is acquiring the venerable Babyland and the Little Louie brand from the bankruptcy estate. The plan is to relaunch the children's and baby store in the first quarter of 2027 by connecting the site directly to the new technical platform Storehub, which is specifically designed for niche stores and AI agents.
Our new platform Storehub, which shares a name with our subsidiary, is built to take advantage of the intelligence of current and future AI models and will play a central role going forward. I see the greatest potential in moving our existing stores to the platform and launching more niche stores. Storytel Books also shows how we can run e-commerce for others, an offering that I believe will interest more B2B customers, says Emil Henriksson.
To be able to handle the growing volumes and new store concepts, the company is currently building a completely new central warehouse of 12,000 square meters in Västerås. The idea is to reduce the proportion of third-party logistics and instead let algorithms control what should be on the warehouse shelves based on historical data.
We are building the warehouse based on what customers have actually bought from us. Purchases are largely automatically controlled by our algorithms, which analyze our own sales data. This provides precision in orders and allows us to keep the right products in stock, deliver faster and at the same time limit capital tie-up and inventory risk, explains Emil Henriksson.
Ahead of the year-end and most important months, Sweden Buyersclub is choosing to stick with its previous full-year forecast for 2026. The goal is still to reach a net sales of between SEK 150 and 200 million and an EBITDA result of between SEK 8 and 12 million, and management expects the fourth quarter to deliver new records across the board.
We are entering our most important sales period with a stronger core business and more revenue streams. Our ambition is to break records in turnover, results and membership revenue during the last quarter of the year, concludes Emil Henriksson.
