Groundwork is now in full swing in Gislaved as Biltema lays the foundation for its next department store. The goal is to open the doors already next year, in an investment expected to create up to 30 new jobs in the area. The establishment is the retail chain's latest move in its strategy to take more physical space in the Swedish market.

When the doors finally open in 2027, customers will be greeted by a 7,500 square meter facility housing the chain's entire range and its well-known restaurant concept. The establishment is estimated to result in 25 to 30 new jobs in the area.

To approach the company's goal of climate neutrality, the building will be equipped with solar panels on the roof, combined with geothermal heating and cooling to reduce the property's need for purchased energy.

It’s very exciting that we are now starting construction in Gislaved. We have secured a very good plot with a strategic location and look forward to establishing Biltema here,” says Magnus Kristiansson, Construction Manager at Biltema Real Estate.

Continued Physical Expansion

The investment in Gislaved builds on the company's broader establishment phase around the country. Earlier this year, an expansion in Botkyrka was completed, increasing the sales area from 3,630 to 6,830 square meters, all without the department store having to close during construction.

In recent months, the retail chain has also managed to cut the ribbon on a completely new department store in Säffle, while securing land for future construction projects in both Köping and Falun.
