On Friday, Clas Ohlson opened the doors to its new store in the Kvarteret Giraffen shopping mall in Kalmar. This establishment means the chain is returning to a more central location in the city and once again has two stores in the area, as it is already present in the Hansa City retail park.
The new store in Kalmar has a sales area of 1,072 square meters.
We established our first store in Kalmar back in 2005. It feels good that we are investing in Kalmar and that we now also have two stores in the city, says Andreas Helgesson, Country Operations Manager at Clas Ohlson, in a statement.
Premiere in Värnamo and Finland
The opening in Kalmar follows a busy Thursday when the chain simultaneously launched two premieres. In Sweden, a new store opened in the Flanaden shopping mall in central Värnamo, with an area of 902 square meters. According to the company, a presence in Värnamo has been in demand for a long time and is expected to increase accessibility in western Småland.
In parallel with the Swedish expansion, Clas Ohlson also expanded into the Finnish market. A new store was inaugurated in Lielax, just outside the center of Tampere. The store, which covers 1,065 square meters, is the company's third in the Tampere region.
Approaching the End of the Financial Year
The store openings are part of a stated strategy to strengthen the physical presence. The Kalmar store marks the company's seventh opening during the 2025/2026 financial year. Before the financial year ends on April 30, another premiere is planned in Västerås on April 29.
The company has also announced a plan for future establishments for the remainder of the calendar year and into 2027. Among the upcoming Swedish locations is Söderhamn with a planned opening in June, while expansion in Norway and Finland continues with stores in, among others, Bærum, Haugesund and Joensuu.
Clas Ohlson currently has a turnover of approximately SEK 12 billion and around 5,000 employees.
