On Thursday, October 15, the Helsingborg District Court decided to declare Jobi Footright AB bankrupt. The company, which is headquartered and has its warehouse on Porfyrgatan in Helsingborg, has sold work shoes through its own e-commerce platform and direct sales without physical stores.

The business was started back in 1985 by Joacim Ekholm and Birgitta, whose first names also formed the basis for the company name Jobi. The original business idea was to sell comfortable work shoes through workplace visits and shoe demonstrations at hospitals, nursing homes, schools and other workplaces around the country.

Took the step online

Fifteen years ago, the company expanded its business model to digital commerce. Ehandel.se reported as early as 2011 on how Jobi launched a new e-shop with work shoes for all industries on the domain jobi.se. The initiative was led by CEO Joacim Ekholm with the aim of reaching more professional groups in need of ergonomic shoes.

Over the years, the company has built up a loyal customer base. On the review site Trustpilot, the online store has an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 based on 180 reviews, where customers have primarily highlighted the comfort of the shoes, foot support and delivery times.

Two consecutive years with million-dollar losses

More recently, however, the economic development has turned downwards. During the peak years of 2022 and 2023, Jobi Footright generated annual revenues of over 45 million Swedish krona with profit, but during the financial year 2024, revenue fell to 36.9 million krona. At the same time, the result after financial items turned into a loss of 3.8 million krona, and a loss of 2.5 million krona on the bottom line.

In the 2024 annual report, management described that the company operated in a challenging market characterized by economic uncertainty and changing purchasing behavior. At that time, the company stated that it still entered 2025 with cautious optimism after seeing signs of stabilization.

Restraint in core segments

However, no turnaround to profitability occurred during the financial year 2025. Revenue leveled off at 36.3 million krona, while the loss after financial items remained at minus 3.9 million krona. In the administration report, the company pointed to continued restrained consumption within the main customer segments of healthcare, care and service.

As a result of the red figures, the company's equity decreased during the latest financial year from 8.7 to 4.8 million krona. According to public records, Jobi Footright AB had neither payment remarks nor any debt balance with the Swedish Enforcement Administration when the bankruptcy was initiated.

Attorney Niklas Ernulf at Wesslau Advokatbyrå in Malmö has been appointed as bankruptcy administrator by the district court.
