The department store in Västerås has had the same design since 2009 and is now undergoing a renovation. On October 15th, the 3,000 square meter store will open with new interior design and so-called shop-in-shops. The company announces that the store will be equipped with interactive solutions where customers have the opportunity to test the products on site.
Customers will encounter a completely different store than before, where it will be easier to find the right products, says Mattias Gunnardo, store manager at Power Erikslund.
Section for Outer Defects
In the renovated department store, an area of 500 square meters will be allocated to an outlet concept. There, the company will sell new products that have received cosmetic defects during the logistics chain, such as scratches or damaged packaging.
The goods are sold at a reduced price. The concept is already used in the company's Norwegian operations and is now being introduced to the Swedish market.
We have seen that the outlet stores have worked in Norway and we are pleased to now be able to open the first department in Sweden, says CEO Magnus Kreuger.
More Stores Planned
To manage customer flow during the opening weekend, the company is borrowing 50 employees from the chain's other department stores in the country.
The investment in Västerås is in line with Power's ongoing establishment strategy. Earlier in 2026, the company reported positive results for its Swedish operations, and the company is now continuing to invest in physical retail.
Currently, Power operates 30 department stores in Sweden. According to the company, the goal is to establish an additional 30 units over the next five years.
