Chief Financial Officer Niclas Neglén and Chief Marketing Officer David Sandström have now decided to move on, after six and nine years in their respective positions. Klarna has already initiated a recruitment process to find a new CFO and aims to appoint a person based in New York.
To ensure the handover, both current executives will remain during a transition period.
Klarna CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski comments on the leadership change:
Niclas and David have helped shape what Klarna is. Niclas has built the finance organization that listed us on the stock exchange and has been a trusted partner for me and the board through six years of growth and change.
Klarna has established itself in new markets in recent years. The marketing department has been tasked with making the brand known internationally, work that management now highlights in connection with the departures.
David has given Klarna a voice; he took a Nordic payment company and has built one of the most recognized brands in global finance. Both will leave Klarna as a stronger company than the one they joined, and I am grateful to them both, says Sebastian Siemiatkowski.
The information about the leadership change was released in connection with the company's interim report for the second quarter.
Revenue increased by approximately 27 percent to 1 billion dollars. Operating profit landed at 27 million dollars, compared to a loss of 46 million dollars during the same period last year. This results in an operating margin of 2.6 percent.
