The skincare company Skinome was founded in 2018 by Johanna Gillbro, a doctor of experimental dermatology. The business idea is based on offering fresh skincare grounded in science, rather than what the company itself calls "fluff." This focus has attracted investors such as TV personality Carina Berg, King founder Thomas Hartwig, and probiotic company Biogaia.
Today, over 90 percent of the company's sales are made through its own e-commerce platform, and the products reach customers throughout the EU as well as Norway.
Recently, the annual report for 2025 was finalized, which shows increased sales during the past year. Turnover landed at 53.2 million Swedish krona, which is an increase of 73 percent from the 30.7 million Swedish krona reported in 2024.
While revenue increased, the company's loss also decreased. Operating profit improved from minus 7.6 million Swedish krona in 2024 to minus 1.4 million Swedish krona for 2025.
According to the annual report, the increase in turnover is due to increased demand in the company's own digital sales channel, driven by marketing campaigns and a subscription model that creates recurring revenue. The company also expanded its workforce, from an average of 10 to 13 employees during the year.
Turning to Profit in 2026
The development has continued upwards since then. So far in 2026, the company has grown by 40 percent compared to the same period last year.
During the first quarter of the year, Skinome also reached a new milestone when they reported a positive operating profit for an entire quarter for the first time.
The company's CEO, Lydia Engholm, believes that consumer demands in the market are changing.
In an industry that has long sold unattainable ideals and exaggerated promises, we are seeing customers become increasingly aware. They want proven effect, not retouched images, says Lydia Engholm.
She sees the fact that the company is now reaching profitability while also being able to show clinical evidence as confirmation that their business model is working.
The fact that we can show both clinical evidence and our first profit quarter at the same time is a confirmation that our strategy works, even in one of the most competitive industries there is, says the CEO.
