Niclas Eriksson began his career with the company as a retail salesperson in 1995. Over the years, he has held several leadership positions and served as CEO of Elgiganten’s Swedish operations for the past 14 years. Now, he is taking the next step and assuming responsibility for the entire Nordic business, which currently employs over 10,000 people.

He succeeds Fredrik Tønnesen, who in June assumed the role of CEO of the group’s British parent company, Currys. Tønnesen will remain the person to whom Eriksson will report going forward.

We are very pleased to appoint Niclas Eriksson as CEO of Elkjøp Nordic. He has demonstrated outstanding leadership during his 30 years with the company, and I am confident that he is the right person to continue implementing our strategy, says Fredrik Tønnesen.

Niclas Eriksson states that he is looking forward to the assignment in a competitive market.

My many years at Elgiganten have taught me that the best results are achieved through teamwork. I always strive to be an inclusive, open and responsive leader, says Niclas Eriksson.

Taking Over a Profitable Business

It is a group with economic growth that Eriksson will now lead. As Ehandel.se recently reported, Elkjøp Nordic reported a revenue of over 50 billion Norwegian kroner for the broken fiscal year 2025/2026. At the same time, operating profit amounted to 1.3 billion Norwegian kroner.

A large part of the sales is driven by e-commerce, which currently accounts for about one-third of the group’s total revenue. The Swedish business, where Eriksson is now leaving the CEO position, is the group’s largest market and accounted for approximately 17.5 billion Swedish kronor in revenue during the past year.

In addition to his new role at Elkjøp Nordic, Niclas Eriksson holds the position of Vice Chairman of the industry organization Elektronikbranschen and is Chairman of the Board of Nordsport.
