In May, Ehandel.se reported on Motonet's annual report for 2024/2025, where net sales amounted to 279 million Swedish kronor with a profit after financial items of 13.5 million Swedish kronor. The physical expansion was then complemented by investments in the company's e-commerce.
Now, the retail chain announces that sales during the winter and spring have resulted in a rolling twelve-month turnover of 500 million Swedish kronor.
I can state that the development has happened faster than our previous forecasts predicted. That this happens during a period characterized by a turbulent world and restrictive consumption makes me proud. Now the journey continues forward and upward, with clear goals for what we want to achieve going forward, comments CEO Johan Ljung.
During 2025, Motonet opened five Swedish warehouses, an expansion that was stated in the latest annual report to entail high costs in relation to revenue. The current year, 2026, has instead focused on optimizing operations, and the only new establishment took place in Växjö in May.
From 2027, the company plans to increase the establishment rate again, with the goal of opening an average of four new warehouses per year.
When 2025 had passed, it was important for us to see our concept work in practice and that customers in our new markets have welcomed us well. We can now happily state that this is the case. Therefore, we step on the gas when it comes to establishments, says Johan Ljung.
A store opening in Uppsala in 2027 has previously been communicated. Now, Motonet confirms that they will open their first warehouse in the Stockholm area during the same year. The establishment will take place in Kungens Kurva in premises previously belonging to City Gross, with a total area of over 4,500 square meters.
Making our presence known in Stockholm has long been a prioritized point for us. The current location is also one we have been pursuing for several years, the visibility it provides means that a whole new group of customers and suppliers will find their way to us, says Johan Ljung.
In parallel with the establishment of e-commerce and new physical warehouses, the central organization is being expanded. The workforce at the headquarters has more than doubled since 2023, and new positions within project management, sales follow-up and a role as regional manager will be added during the autumn of 2026.
Motonet currently operates eight warehouses in Sweden.
