The new distribution center in Oslo is designed for handling food and pharmaceuticals with multiple temperature zones. The facility is adapted to meet the quality, traceability and temperature control requirements applicable to pharmaceutical logistics, including EU regulations for the distribution of medicinal products, GDP (Good Distribution Practice).
Norway is an important market for us. The ability to have food and medicine delivered quickly and safely makes a big difference in everyday life and we see that more and more Norwegians are demanding this type of service. With the new distribution center in Oslo, we are creating the right conditions for continued growth throughout the country, says Ali Ghoce, CEO and co-founder of Gordon.
The property is being developed and managed by Oro Eiendom in the Oslo region and is specifically adapted to Gordon's needs within temperature-controlled logistics.
The chill storage and freezer room have been delivered by Svalinn, a contractor with specialist expertise in rooms and buildings for the food industry.
In this project, we have delivered a chill storage of approximately 1,250 square meters, the freezer room and associated solutions that contribute to stable temperature conditions and efficient handling of temperature-sensitive goods, says Hilde Nordli, Regional Manager at Svalinn.
Several Nordic Investments This Spring
The establishment in Oslo follows a series of recently completed expansions in both Norway and Sweden. As recently as May 1st, the company opened a new terminal in Espehaugen in Bergen, which strengthened capacity and delivery precision on the Norwegian west coast.
In addition to the expansion in Norway, Gordon also strengthened its presence in northern Sweden during May. A new distribution center was then opened in Sundsvall, which constitutes the company's twelfth facility in the Swedish market. The purpose of the center in Sundsvall is to shorten lead times and enable more frequent deliveries of temperature-controlled pharmaceuticals and food in the region. The facility also offers storage space for rent to local actors.
Gordon currently reaches up to 19 million consumers in Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
And we are not finished yet. This is a long-term investment and we are building a network that allows us to continue to grow with our customers, concludes Ali Ghoce.
