The company was founded in 2021 with the business idea of reducing overconsumption and counteracting the throwaway culture. By allowing customers to customize fabric, shape, and legs of their furniture, the strategy was to only produce what was actually in demand.
The company operated sales online and had two physical stores, one in central Gothenburg and the other on Södra Förstadsgatan in Malmö.
Warning Signs in the South
At the end of last year, the decision was made to close the Scania branch. During January, the premises were completely emptied through a clearance sale.
The company then communicated to its followers that operations on the west coast, as well as the ability to shop online, were secure and open as usual.
Economy Couldn't Sustain
The promise of continued operation, however, did not last long. The figures from the company's most recently registered annual report, which covers the period up to January 31, 2025, show that the company operated at a loss.
Turnover decreased by 1.7 percent and amounted to 6.2 million Swedish krona. Operating profit showed an improvement, but remained negative and ended at minus 1 million Swedish krona, compared to minus 2.4 million Swedish krona in the previous period.
As sales declined, unpaid debts were also registered.
In early June, there was a debt balance with the Swedish Enforcement Administration of approximately 325,000 Swedish krona for general claims, mainly related to the tax account.
End of E-commerce
On May 28 this year, the formal decision was made. At Borås District Court, Soffdrömmar Sverige AB was declared bankrupt. A bankruptcy administrator was appointed immediately and quickly initiated a sale of the remaining assets. In an update on social media, the law firm urged the public to visit the physical address.
E-commerce has been shut down permanently. Customers who now try to visit the e-commerce site are met with a short text explaining that the site is closed until further notice and refers any questions to the sale on Kungsgatan.
According to reports, the store will close permanently on Saturday.
