The online store was originally run by Gausta AB, founded in the spring of 2022. The company designed and manufactured plastic-free products such as beeswax wraps, beeswax candles, lip balm and flower boxes on Gotland for sale both via B2B and to private individuals.

Sales increased from the start. During the broken financial year 2023/2024, the company reported a turnover of SEK 10.5 million. This was an increase of over 130 percent compared to the company's first, eleven-month financial year, when turnover amounted to SEK 4.5 million.

But despite the increase in sales, the operating result showed losses that decreased by 45.5 percent, from SEK -654,700 to SEK -952,500 for 2023/2024.

Bankruptcy a Fact

As the company tried to grow, financial problems arose. Historically, the company accumulated tax debts totaling over SEK 2.6 million.

In the summer of 2025, a bankruptcy application was submitted, and on August 1, the formal decision on bankruptcy for Gausta AB was made. The bankruptcy was completed now in May 2026. When the editorial staff reviews the documents today, the company's unpaid debts to the Swedish Enforcement Administration amount to just over SEK 1.1 million, distributed across eight general cases.

New Management in Värmland

Shortly after Gausta AB went bankrupt, the name Gotland Originals was registered as a special company name under the new company Beeinghappy AB. This company has its headquarters in Karlstad.

In the autumn of 2024, Maria Melin took office on the company's board. The new owner highlights the shared view of sustainability as the driving force behind the acquisition. She points out, in a text on the company's website, that the e-commerce is now managed from Värmland, but that part of the production remains on Gotland to connect to the company's roots and original craftsmanship.

It's fantastic and cool that over 50,000 people have so far purchased beeswax wraps, beeswax candles, mini bonfires, fire starters and much more from us. We hope and believe that we will become even more, she writes.

The company's focus going forward is to continue with its own production in its own facilities. The range should be continuously expanded, but the basic requirement relies on avoiding wear and tear on the environment by excluding disposable products.

Our big, long-term goal is to have a positive impact on our environment. We do this by continuing to improve the quality and experience around our products and we are constantly working to expand and improve the range, concludes Maria.
