Books And Second-Hand Goods Take Place In The Cabinets – "Fits The Everyday"

Zalando jumped on the cabinets already in 2023
New companies join the logistics network.

The logistics network for package lockers is growing as both second-hand player Sellpy and Akademibokhandeln integrate Instabox as a delivery option in their Swedish checkouts. The expansion takes place in the wake of the logistics company's recently launched requirements for collective agreements in the driver link.

During the beginning of the week, e-commerce platform Sellpy and book retail chain Akademibokhandeln have announced that they are expanding their delivery options. Both players have now added Instabox, owned by Instabee Group, to their respective Swedish checkout solutions.

Circular Fashion And Books In Package Lockers

For Sellpy, the initiative is a way to simplify the handling of circular consumption. By offering package lockers, the platform wants to make it easier for consumers to shop second-hand, and during the launch week, the new option is priced as the cheapest choice at checkout.

We want to make it as easy as possible to shop second hand. By launching Instabox in our Swedish checkout, we are taking another step towards making circular fashion more accessible and convenient for more people, says Viktor Höök, General Manager Nordics at Sellpy.

At the same time, Akademibokhandeln is activating the same delivery solution for its e-commerce customers. This gives buyers access to the logistics actor's network, which currently consists of over 350,000 lockers around the country.

We know that our customers appreciate delivery options that are both fast and flexible. With Instabox, we strengthen our offering by making it even easier to get orders delivered in a way that fits everyday life, says Kim Sandon, logistics developer at Bokusgruppen.

Coordination In Existing Flows

Common to both collaborations is that the e-commerce companies' delivery volumes are integrated into the existing logistics system. The basic idea is to utilize spare capacity in the deployed cabinets and in the rolling transport flows, which in practice means that more packages can be handled without the number of transports increasing to the same extent.

That Sellpy and Akademibokhandeln connect to the network happens shortly after Ehandel.se's previous reporting on Instabee's transport network. At the end of April, the logistics group announced that it is introducing stricter requirements for its partners. Within twelve months, all subcontractors performing home deliveries must be covered by collective agreements. The change is backed up by monthly million investments from the company's side in order to ensure equal working conditions throughout the delivery chain.
