As early as December 2025, visitors to the e-commerce store Tässla Stores were met with grim news. The regular website was shut down and replaced with text explaining that the store was forced to close permanently. The company explained the collapse by stating that sales of Tesla cars had been sluggish for more than a year, a decline they partially linked to the widely publicized strike by IF Metall against the car manufacturer.
In addition to the declining market, the company's own financial situation was described as unsustainable. A newly incurred, large tax debt, combined with excessively high fixed costs, meant that the cash register was completely empty.
Unfortunately, we have been forced to close permanently. Due to declining sales of Tesla cars, partly since IF Metall began its strike against Tesla, we have been forced to shut down operations, the website read in December.
The company stated in the same message that they were insolvent and took the opportunity to thank their customers for the past five years. The heavy news just before Christmas also meant the end for the staff, as five employees were forced to terminate their employment in connection with the crash.
Bankruptcy and Empty Cash Register
It was then on the last day of April 2026 that the company behind the e-commerce business, Grund1 Aktiebolag, formally submitted a bankruptcy application to Attunda District Court. Just a few days later, on May 4th, the district court confirmed the decision and handed over responsibility to an appointed bankruptcy trustee.
When the Enforcement Agency visited the company shortly thereafter to try to collect debts, it was quickly determined that no assets remained that could be seized.
Looking at the e-commerce business's figures for the 2024 financial year (which is the latest available), the business reached a turnover of SEK 12.8 million. But the business was financially pressured.
After all expenses had been deducted, the company's operating profit amounted to approximately SEK 52,200 for the entire year.
New Owners Take the Helm
But the darkness on the website did not last long.
As early as January 2026, the permanent farewell was replaced with a completely new and much more hopeful message. Instead of a shutdown, the website now announced that the e-commerce business would continue under new management and that a new owner had taken the helm.
Tässla Store continues under new management! Tässla Store is now run by a new owner, the new message read.
This short message is still on the website now, a few months later, and promises that the store will soon open its doors again for orders. In the greeting, signed by the "New Tässla Team", the actors ask customers for their patience during the transition period.
Who has taken over the brand after the crashed company is not currently public knowledge. It is also unclear whether the physical assembly hall that the company previously operated in Täby will remain, or whether the focus will solely be on e-commerce going forward. Customers are encouraged to keep an eye out for more information via social media and the website.
