Design Success Exceeds 100 Million – Company Now Sold

Aiming for new markets.

At a time when screens and digital flows are taking up more and more of people's everyday lives, two people from the advertising industry chose a different path. In 2017, Printworks was founded in Stockholm with a vision to create products that encourage community outside the digital world. By transforming analogue objects such as photo albums and board games into interior details, the company established itself in the international market. Today, their products are available in 71 markets on five continents. After a period of growth, it is now clear that the e-commerce and design company will have a new owner.

Network of Design (NOD) has entered into an agreement to acquire Printworks. The acquisition means that NOD is broadening its range within interior design and gift items.

According to the company's CEO, they have been keeping an eye on Printworks for some time, and the deal therefore feels natural:

Printworks is a brand we have followed since the start of NOD. We were early on impressed by how quickly they managed to build something both strong and scalable, while remaining true to a very clear design direction. There is a confidence in the brand, an exceptional team behind it and a sharp understanding of how design fits into everyday life today. This feels like a very natural step for us, and we are really looking forward to what we can build together in the future, says Therese Hillman, CEO of NOD.

Will Continue to Operate the Business

Despite the change of ownership, the company will continue to operate as an independent entity. Founders Annette Gårdö, CEO, and Patrik Westerdahl, Creative Director, will retain their current roles and continue to lead the team.

The duo see the new ownership structure as an opportunity to accelerate the company's international expansion and explore new commercial opportunities within the network.

From the very first conversations, it was clear that we share a common vision for design, brand building and long-term growth. Joining NOD gives us the opportunity to scale up what we have built so far, while remaining true to our vision and creative direction. We look forward to what we can achieve together, say Annette Gårdö and Patrik Westerdahl.

Million-Dollar Profits and International Expansion

The financial development has pointed upwards in recent years. In 2025, the company's turnover amounted to 122 million Swedish kronor, an increase of 43 percent from 2024, when turnover was 85.1 million Swedish kronor. The profit is not specified, and the annual report for 2025 has not yet been released. However, in 2024, operating profit was 14 million Swedish kronor.

The company's products are sold through its own e-commerce platform printworksmarket.com, B2B solutions for companies and hotels, as well as through over 5,000 retailers globally. These include department stores such as Harrods, Selfridges and MoMA.

Network of Design, NOD, was founded in 2020 and has since acquired several established Swedish design brands. NOD is in turn part of the investment company Altor's portfolio. The group of companies currently includes the brands Astrid, Byarums Bruk, Cooee Design, Grythyttan Stålmöbler, Kasthall, Kids Concept, Norling Studio, Photowall, String Furniture, Vaarnii and Wall of Art.
