Koppert manufactures products that utilize beneficial insects and microorganisms for plant protection. The company operates in over 100 countries, employs 2,700 people, and has a global turnover of approximately 450 million euros. The Nordic branch, Koppert Nordic, reported a doubled turnover between 2024 and 2025 to a total of 44 million Swedish krona.
Biological plant protection is already standard in large parts of professional greenhouse horticulture. Now we see an opportunity to bring the same knowledge and technology to the consumer market through digital commerce, says Johan Halvorsen, CEO of Koppert Nordic.
Combines Advice and E-commerce
The new platform is built to function both as a source of information and a sales channel. Customers should be able to identify pests on their plants and then order recommended biological solutions directly to their homes.
The establishment takes place in a market with confirmed growth. According to market data from ECDB, e-commerce for garden products in Sweden amounted to 2.5 billion Swedish krona in 2024. The niche for pest control has also proven scalable; Ehandel.se reported in late 2025 that the Nordic competitor Stick.se reached a turnover of 49 million krona by targeting consumers specifically.
An Alternative to Illegal Chemicals
The launch of biological alternatives is in line with the authorities' ongoing work to clean up the industry. In March 2026, the Swedish Chemicals Agency published a report showing widespread sales of illegal and potentially harmful pesticides in Swedish e-commerce. The problem was particularly concentrated among dropshipping actors where knowledge of Swedish regulations was low.
Koppert's strategy is to meet consumer needs without using chemical preparations.
We are seeing growing interest from individuals who want to grow in a way that is gentle on both people and nature, says Johan Halvorsen.
