The company has been working to develop and sell scented candles, spa and skincare products through its own e-commerce platform, retailers and through private label manufacturing for other brands. The company states on its website that it has drawn inspiration from nature, and production has been done by hand in the factory in Borås. The company also had a physical store in the city.
According to the annual report for the broken financial year 2023/2024, turnover decreased by almost 12 percent to SEK 5.2 million. At the same time, the operating result deteriorated from approximately SEK -63,500 to SEK -397,200.
The decline is explained by the fact that the company was forced to halt production for six months. The stoppage was caused by decreased sales at the company's largest customer, whose financial situation proved to be more strained than expected. This led to cancelled orders and forced Torplyktan to make staff cuts due to lack of work.
The Auditor Warned
The situation was worsened by the fact that more than half of the company's share capital had been consumed, and no control balance sheet was prepared in accordance with the rules of the Companies Act. The annual report was submitted late and the auditor early on pointed to uncertainties regarding the company's ability to continue its operations.
In recent years, the company has supported its liquidity through temporary tax deferrals. At most, the deferral amounted to around SEK 703,400 in June 2024, which has since been repaid on an ongoing basis. When the bankruptcy decision was made, approximately SEK 276,100 remained in deferrals that had not yet expired.
On March 26, 2026, Stockholm District Court announced the bankruptcy decision for Torplyktan AB.
So far, there is no information about the bankruptcy on the company's social media channels. The e-commerce platform is also still open.
